Transfer Rumblings & Friendly News

22/07/2009 Chris Grant 1 comment

Xabi Alonso : Xabi is set to miss today’s game as he is reported to have a ‘minor injury’, encouraging the speculation of a Madrid move. In the meantime Thai fans begged Xabi to reject a such said move. Although the Real coach Manuel Pellegrino has spoken about the possibility of signing him the Daily Mail and is reporting that both Chelsea & Man City are now in the hunt for Xabi. Good Grief.

Javier Mascherano : Looks like his agent is opening his big mouth again and claiming that Javier wants to move to Spain, with further personal problems as his wife is finding it difficult to attain a Visa.

Stephen Suma : This 16 year old German U-17 international has just signed a 2 year contract with the Reds, Wilkommen Stephen.

Alvaro Negredo : His agent is claiming that Premiership clubs have submitted bids with Spurs leading the chase and Liverpool also interested.

Alberto Aquilani : Reports from Italy are linking the Roma midfielder with Liverpool again, word on the street is that he was told to ‘get ready for a move to Liverpool’.

Peter Crouch : The former Red’s move to Sunderland is reported to have fallen through, Spurs still in the fore-running, as Crouchie states that he would prefer to stay in the south of England.

What do you make of the latest developments?

On This Day: 4th July 2007

Two years ago today, Fernando Torres signed a 6 year contract with Liverpool. He made his debut in an entertaining 2-1 win at Aston Villa, with Gerrard scoring a lattorrese free kick. His 2 years at LFC have been packed, including:

Scoring the most goals in his first  season as a foreign player (beating Van Nistelrooy)

Ripping defences apart

Helping Liverpool get to the semis of the Champions League by scoring a cracker against Arsenal

Scoring in the memorable 4-1 win over Manchester United

And many more things.
